Welcome to the Cary Arts Center, a cornerstone of history, culture, and community spirit nestled in the bustling heart of Cary, North Carolina. This iconic facility not only serves as a beacon for the arts within the region but also stands as a testament to the area’s rich historical tapestry and commitment to educational and cultural advancements. Whether you’re a local resident, a potential home buyer, or a local business owner, the Cary Arts Center heralds a unique blend of the past and present, offering an array of artistic and cultural experiences for all ages.

The roots of the Cary Arts Center trace back to the late 19th century, when it started its journey as Cary Academy. Through the years, its morphology changed with the times, transitioning from a private school to the state’s first funded public high school, Cary Public High School. This landmark site is not only steeped in educational heritage but also showcases architectural brilliance as exemplified by its Colonial Revival architecture, which was masterfully designed by the acclaimed Raleigh architect William Henley Dietrick. The significance of this building extends beyond its educational beginnings—it’s a piece of Cary’s living history, echoing the town’s growth and evolution over decades.

Following an extensive renovation in 2011, the Cary Arts Center today emerges as a vibrant hub for arts activity, extending the educational legacy initiated by Town of Cary founder Allison Frances Page. The approximately 48,000 square foot facility is a melting pot of creativity and cultural exchange, boasting fully-equipped classrooms, studios, and performing spaces that cater to a varied array of visual, artisanal, and performing arts. The center is not just a venue; it’s a vibrant community space that hosts the Town’s Marvelous Music Series and Applause! Cary Youth Theatre, offers an extensive public rental program, and runs an Open Studio Program that provides budding artists with access to professional studios. Cary Arts Center embodies the spirit of Cary—welcoming, innovative, and deeply rooted in the community’s values.
